Oscar de la Renta Exhibition at the de Young Museum

San Francisco’s de Young Museum celebrates world renowned fashion designer Oscar de la Renta with an exhibition featuring five decades worth of beautiful work. The exhibit, which runs from Saturday, March 12 until Monday, May 30, includes over 130 pieces – from daywear and eveningwear to ball gowns and red carpet ensembles – that trace de la Renta’s beginnings in Spain and lead up to his years as one of the most influential designers of the 21st century.

De la Renta’s designs celebrate the best in us – beauty, optimism, and confidence – and this special display showcases the breadth and depth of his passion. Most pieces come from the de la Renta company’s archives, with additional creations coming from the designer’s own personal collection, and from private lenders around the world. The exhibition is curated by André Leon Talley, former American editor-at-large for Vogue magazine and lifelong friend of de la Renta, who brings an unmatched perspective on an iconic career.
