San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf Hostel debuts a new indoor parklet

There's a new place for guests to kick back and unwind at the San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf Hostel: an indoor parklet located in the lobby. The recently completed redwood parklet provides the perfect nook for road-weary travelers to relax on colorfully pillowed benches near a diverse array of plants.

Tour the Pacific coast with an HI-West Coast passport -- and get a free t-shirt!

Who doesn't love passport stamps? Stamps are like little badges of honor, awarded to the adventurous wanderer, and serve as tangible reminders of the memories made while exploring new places. Hostelling International is pleased to offer 27 stamps to add to your collection, with the HI-West Coast passport. Collect a free souvenir stamp at each West Coast hostel in the U.S.

Remembering Franco Greco (1933 - 2012)

On December 6, 2012, the San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf Hostel lost its elder statesman, Francesco Greco, the man after whom our cafe is named. He will be greatly missed, and he is well remembered by many. The following is a personal message from the hostel's general manager, Mike Byrnes.

After Franco passed on, I found the letter that he wrote when he applied to work here, 28 years ago:
